Help us bring Camp Doughboy to life!

Join us for this fun and educational event, which takes place on Governors Island on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16. Over 100 living history re-enactors will be on site with uniforms, tents, weapons, gear and vehicles to bring the World War I era alive! (Click here to learn more)

See below for information on shifts and job descriptions. All volunteers will receive meals and a free T-shirt, and reimbursement for the ferry if needed. To sign up, email wwi100nyc@gmail.com with your desired job(s) and availability.

SHIFTS

Friday, Sept 14
AFTERNOON/EVENING (3-6pm): Set-Up only

Saturday, Sept 15

MORNING (9am – 1pm) – All jobs except Set-Up/Breakdown
AFTERNOON (1pm – 5pm) – All jobs except Set-Up/Breakdown

Sunday, Sept 16
MORNING (9am – 1pm) – All jobs except Set-Up/Breakdown
AFTERNOON (1pm – 5pm) – All jobs

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Set Up/ Breakdown
Set up tents, take down tents, help re-enactors and exhibitors load in and load out

Docents/Ushers
Roving grounds to give directions to public, explain schedule of events, tell public where things are. Assist with speakers/presenters.

Safety/Security
Assist in watching over tables/displays so that living history performers/re-enactors can step away to take breaks, etc.. Help with crowd control during movements/presentations

Information Tent
Staff the information tent; assist coordinator with volunteer check-in/check-out

Social Media and Comms
Take and share photos, take photos of public for them, greet public when they come into exhibit spaces
